About Nyerere
Nyerere National Park covers the northern part of the old Selous Game Reserve. The Rufiji River runs through the area, with boat safaris alongside game drives by 4x4.
What you'll see
Look for hippos and crocodiles along the river, and elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and lions on game drives. African wild dogs also live in the park, though sightings vary.
How it works
A short morning flight from Zanzibar lands you at an airstrip inside the park. Your guide takes you straight on a game drive with a picnic lunch set up in the bush, followed by a boat safari and a night at the lodge. You fly back to Zanzibar the next day.
